THE FIRE WITHIN: THE TRAGEDY OF JOAN OF ARC
The Fire Within follows Joan’s journey from an innocent peasant girl to a martyr and, ultimately, a saint. As Joan’s faith is kindled by innocence and sustained by unwavering conviction, she rises to lead a broken France to hope and victory, only to be met with suspicion and betrayal from those who cannot comprehend the divine flame within her. The lyrical drama is guided by a haunting “Chorus of Fire”, both witness and judge, whose voices flicker between warmth and menace, illuminating the fragile boundary between divine inspiration and human fear.
